Maya is a little over 3 years old and we think she may be a Pinscher / Husky Mix – she shows definite husky traits. She was emaciated and has gained 15 pounds since we rescued her from a kill shelter in North Carolina. She is learning to interact with people and looks like a Muppet when she plays with the dogs at her foster home (and when she sees her bowl of food!). Maya is crate trained and her foster has taught her “sit”, “down” “touch” (with her nose), “wait” for dinner to be put down. She is still working on learning to “come” and does it some of the time. She does well on a leash and absolutely loves to go for walks. She likes other dogs, but tends to be a little over playful, which some other dogs do not like. She is extremely shy when you first meet her and tends to like women over men. She is slowly figuring out that there Are good people in this world. Once you have captured her heart, she is yours forever.
Unfortunately Maya came to us Heart worm and Lyme positive. Her treatments are now over and her blood test came back negative for heart worm! She is more than ready for her furever home. Maya is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on all of her shots. Come see Maya in person and see her transform from the dog in the pictures to the silly dog she truly is.
